Steak Mince & Baked Beans Stew

4-5 Servings ~ 25-30 minutes
  • 250 g steak mince
  • 1 can baked beans
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp oil

This is a lovely combination especially when planning to serve the meal with mashed potatoes or a great rice dish. This combination effectively stretches both your mince and your baked beans if you are looking at things from a budget cooking perspective.

Cooked sugar beans may be used in place of baked beans. Pork or chicken mince may also be used in place of steak mince in this recipe.

Although you could serve this up as a relish for a main meal as mentioned, this is also a fantastic breakfast idea. So feel free to do this for breakfast.

The easiest way maybe to go with store bought baked beans here, however, if you are up to it, you may even make your own baked beans as I show how here which is not very difficult to achieve. Just keep in mind that if making your own baked beans preparation time is significantly increased as making your own baked beans is a recipe of its own.

Finally, I hope having some beans this way will get those among us who have for the longest time despised beans reconciled.

DO THIS

  1. Get your ingredients together. Heat oil in pot. Add the mince, salt, garlic and paprika. Fry until it begins to brown.
  2. Add the onion and curry powder. Fry for 2 minutes and add the tomatoes. Allow to cook for a further 3 minutes.
