1kg commercial beef
3 tbsp oil
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp Zimspice Ground Ginger
1 tsp fresh finely grated ginger
2 large tomatoes, grated
2 tbsp tomato paste
100 ml Mr Sauce Tomato Sauce
1 tbsp flour plus 3 tbsp as water to make a paste
Enough water to just cover the meat
Do This
- Get your ingredients together. Cut the beef into medium-sized pieces. Put it in a bowl and add salt, ginger powder and grated ginger. Rub gently ensuring each piece is evenly seasoned.
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef pieces in batches and fry until browned on all sides. When all the meat is browned add the tomato paste and fry for a minute or two.
- Add the tomato sauce and grated tomatoes. Allow to cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add the water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and let the meat simmer gently until the beef is done.
- Mix together the flour and water to make a paste. Pour this paste into the stew whilst simultaneously stirring. Simmer for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste for seasoning and adjust accordingly. Enjoy!
