Loaded Hotdogs with Mustard Sauce
Amazing hotdogs these! It’s a flavour factory…from the sausage flavour to the bacon and sweetness of the pineapple they all come together scrumptiously. The onion rings add a lovely crunchiness and the mustard sauce just adds a delicious sweet-tangy flavour which ties everything together. Not forgetting the garlic roll itself! Enjoy.

6 garlic hot dog rolls
6 sausages of preference
1 medium onion sliced into rings
250 g bacon, chopped
60 g pineapple pieces
Fancy lettuce leaves
Mr Sauce Mustard sauce
Margarine/ Butter for spreading
1 tbsp oil
- Batter for onion rings
1/2 cup self-raising flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup water
1 cup breadcrumbs
Oil for deep frying
Do This
- Get your ingredients together. Slice the hotdog rolls in half without going all the way through. Spread margarine/butter.
- Heat a pan and add the hotdog rolls buttered side down. “Toast” the rolls on the inside until slightly golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Heat oil in the same pan. Add the bacon and fry until done. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Using the same pan, fry the sausages until they are cooked. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Prepare the onion rings. Put flour in a bowl and add salt. Add water and mix. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture then into the breadcrumbs. Deep fry until golden brown.
- Now we assemble the hotdog. Put the lettuce leaves in between the hotdog rolls. Next is the sausage, then 3 small pineapple pieces per hotdog.
- Next add 2 teaspoons of bacon pieces per hotdog, 2 or 3 onion rings per hotdog and finally, a drizzle of the mustard sauce. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- Use any sausage of your preference. I used pork sausages in this recipe.
