How to make Strawberry sauce

~ 10 minutes
  • 250g fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

This sauce is really for those who are like me- have a sweet tooth. I love me some sweet treats 🙂 It’s a pretty quick and easy recipe. All you need are the strawberries, sugar, lemon juice and lemon zest. You can have this with ice-cream, some cake, on pancakes, crumpets, or any baked goodies you wish. So let’s get to it. Please note, if you find it a bit too sweet for your fancy you are more than welcome to reduce the amount of sugar.

Quick Instructions

  1. With your ingredients ready; strawberries (250g), sugar (1/4 cup), lemon zest (1 tsp) and lemon juice (1 tbsp), wash and cut your strawberries in half. Place in saucepan, add sugar, lemon zest and lemon juice.
  2. Mix everything together, cover pot and let it boil for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes use a potato masher to mash up the strawberries. You however want to leave the sauce chunky so don’t over-do the mashing!
  3. After mashing up your strawberries, cover your saucepan again and simmer for another 5 minutes. And there you have it, your chunky strawberry sauce is ready. If you want it smooth you can always puree it using a blender.

The amount of sugar here is also dependent on how sweet your strawberries are. All in all, it’s a good little treat to add to your dessert. Try it out and let me know how it goes.
